Republican Abomination Part 4: Creating & Feeding the Monster

So, Republicans in Tampa, Florida (at least) are afraid of their creation--the Tea Party.  A political reporter interviewed top Tampa area Republicans who are scared of their shock troops.  Article here--

The Republicans are:

  • Afraid their creation will destroy their party.
  • Afraid their creation will destroy themselves, individually (would not publicly comment for fear of retribution).
These same Republicans claim the Tea Party is:

  • cancerous
  • ignorant
  • racist
Yet, it was the Republicans that helped to groom and grow the Tea Party.  Let's be clear, the "Tea Party" is not a different party it is the white working class of the Republican Party.  To differentiate it is to lie to ourselves.  Republicans have had the "Southern Strategy" of racial politics since Richard Nixon in 1968 which they have modified and continued to this day.  The Republicans created the monster and kept it on a leash, but with the advent of Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck and the Koch Brothers funding of the crazy right, it is unleashed.  And the Republicans gleefully fed the beast while hoping it led to electoral victories.  It did not in 2008, but gave big gains in 2010.

It was OK when their Tea Party beast was beating up on the Democrats, but now the beast has turned against its owners and they don't like it.  This reminds me of 2 Timothy 3:13--

"while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived."

The Republicans were deceiving themselves and trying to deceive the rest of us about the Tea Party--now look at the situation.  Our government doesn't work because of this small minority that terrorizes the Republican Party, and in effect, everyone else.
