American Family Association spokesman is claiming that Republican Senatorial candidate, Todd Akin is like "Jesus" being attacked by the Pharisees and that Akin is under a tremendous assault, inferring that it is similar to rape.
Fischer should have NO credibility being that he has said numerous stupid things in the past and will continue to say them unto death unless he truly does find Jesus, but he is part of the lunatic Donald Wildmon's American Family Association. The AFA is just another organization fleecing Christians. I find it comical yet disturbing that one of its principle issues is "promoting a Christian ethic of decency" and they are out in full support of Akin who not only said something non-scientific, but dumb and offensive. What is "Christian" about defending someone who should be apologizing for their offensive and stupid remarks? A true Christian would be telling Akin to suck it up, apologize, you said something stupid. Unless Akin truly believes it, then he should be taken to the nut house.
But what Fischer is doing here is more than just Todd Akin. It is promoting the "victimhood" mentality amongst the people they are fleecing who already think they are under attack because we have a Black President and society is changing (I want to stress society has always been changing--but this change is because people of color, women and gays are open in society and may be working or living next to you). So, Fischer's audience are a bunch of people who are afraid and Fischer's job is to continue that fearmongering, because if he does not, he will lose his audience and won't exist.
Fischer's statements to rational people will appear insane. Jesus would have rebuked people like Fischer and Akin, but Fischer compares Akin to Jesus! Unfortunately, some (if not many) of Fischer's listeners will parrot this line. I don't know how you can compare the guy who changed the women at the well to Akin, who said one of the dumbest things on record and won't recant from his stupid remarks. There are Pharisees in this situation and it is Akin and Fischer.
When you have rightwing stalwarts like Karl Rove and Rush Limbaugh distancing themselves from Akin and even the Republican Party not agreeing, you should realize something is wrong. When the Darth Vader Party doesn't support one of their lunatics, that should open your eyes. But, not Fischer. Fischer is doubling down for Akin based on lies and bad analogies and Fischer isn't really doing this for God or Jesus or Akin, he is doing it for himself and to keep that money coming into the AFA.
